Article Marketing Research | Software Automation Improves Productivity
Article marketing research should be the most time consuming element of any web-based promotional campaign, yet certain aspects of article marketing research should be (and can be) automated for you. Understanding your potential customers and their needs is a pre-requisited to getting to “yes” and closing the sale. Figuring our what they search for and designing content to drive them to your sales page(s) or sales team is a task that can be highly automated for you.
It is assumed that you have at least some concept or product you are trying to market in mind already, and are looking for help in trying to find ways to use web articles and content to bring customers to your sales pages.
Basically what this amounts to is a three step process (click links to see how some steps can be automated):
1. Find Low Competition but Highly Targeted Keywords
2. Find Products and Programs Suitable to that Market
3. Write & Distribute Targeted Article Content Using Those Keywords
Find Low Competition But Highly Targeted Keywords
This first step of article marketing research is the most time consuming but without a doubt is the most valuable step. The good news is that there are highly effective programs designed to quickly narrow down which keywords are being searched for, how many times searched, and (more importantly) how many articles are already out there on the web. Productivity in keyword targeting is critical to getting out of the researching phase and into the implementation phase.
The manual method involves using the free google adwords keyword research tool, performing a search on that word or phrase (or website if you have one), and trolling through the results looking for phrases that have good volume of queries and sound like phrases you would actually use in a sentence (note: VERY important – because after all… you’re going to be writing sentences with these phrases in them). Once you have a few words jotted down that might be good, you go into the normal google page and put the entire phrase in quotes and do a search. If google returns less than 10,000 results for that topic then chances are you have a good phrase to work with. Troll through the returned links google provided. Do you see any articles from ezines or articlesbase or perhaps some other magazine / news article directory on the first page of results?
Hey You Got a Good Phrase, But It Took How Long?
If so, that keyword phrase is likely going to be one where you will be competitive. This is a good thing. The bad news is that it just took you probably fifteen minutes (if you got lucky on your first try) to find ONE phrase to write about. What if you could (in the same fifteen minutes) have a picture of the ENTIRE LANDSCAPE of competition surrounding your desired webpage and content and related keywords? How much time would it take you to research and analyze 200 phrases?
Time Is Money – and Despite Your One Phrase You Still Have No Content Earning Money for You on the Web
Ok so you got a phrase and it looks like a winner but now you’re going to what, write ONE article and hope that google chooses YOUR ONE article as the best versus the 10,000 competing articles? Come on, it just doesn’t work that way. If you had one phrase with maybe 200-300 competing pages to fight against… you MIGHT be able to get your article on page 1 of google results fairly easily.
Problem is there aren’t all that many words like that out there and they’re pretty hard to find – and all the time you spend searching is time you’re not spending getting actual revenue producing content on the web. Getting out of the article marketing research phase and into the content creation phase is paramount if you intend to start making money on the web.
Committing to automating article marketing research is a critical success factor in internet marketing.
